Healthy Beet Salad Recipe (Salatka z Burakow)
One of the most addictively satisfying side dishes you will ever try, this refreshing Polish beet salad will wow your guests and bring incredible flavour and colour to your Polish menu.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 pound Beets
- 1 Shallot, peeled & finely chopped
- Juice & Zest of 1/2 Lemon
- 1/2 tbsp Olive Oil
- 1/2 tsp Honey
- 1/2 tsp Kosher Salt
INSTRUCTIONS
STEP 1: Preheat oven to 375
STEP 1: Line a roasting dish with tinfoil and then parchment paper
STEP 2: Trim off roots and place beets unpeeled in the roasting dish
STEP 3: Cover with tinfoil and roast for 1 hour
STEP 4: Remove from the oven and let cool
STEP 5: Peel the cooled beets and grate them using the large side of a box grater
STEP 6: Add the beets and all remaining ingredients to a glass mixing bowl and combine well
STEP 7: Transfer to a glass serving dish for plating

    I can’t access tapioca starch and potato starch in my location, can I replace tapioca starch with cassava flour and potato starch with corn starch or both with corn starch?

    I just made this! It turned out GREAT! It was very easy to make! I used the canned coconut milk. I needed the entire can to get the consistency you showed. I will definitely be making this again!

      Oh sadly I do not, although you might try using the same recipe but in a square pan instead ... perhaps a little less time in the oven for that though ... best would be to make sure and check with a toothpick a bit before the cooking time has expired to be sure. Good luck!

    Wake up, it's time to let me join the group! Lol You were such a great help when I first started out baking grain free. Great recipes, and I love that you use pure flours and not store bought blends. And use a scale! Any volume is different from person to person depending on how big measurements used, how it's scooped... Weighing is way more accurate and it doesn't matter which recipe maker foes it. A gram is a gram is a gram.

      Hi Judy, while the banana was primarily introduced in this recipe for added flavour, texture wise it mainly brings a binding agent as well as moisture. To replace you could try preparing the recipe without banana, and once you have your final mixture, simply add additional dairy free milk 1 tbsp at a time until the desired consistency is achieved ... once the batter is nice and smooth you're good to griddle, maybe even add some grated apple before cooking to jazz things up?

      @@ImpulsiveCulinarian Yes, I substituted almond flour for the corn and regular sugar for the finer icing type and it came out great... Thanks!!! 😋 otherwise, Brother I followed your recipe and the dough was very loose so I knew something was amiss. In the video the measurements are stated as two thirds cup of flour times 3 , eight oz’s of v-butter and three fourths cup sugar etc. Did you perhaps mean 8 tbs instead of 8 oz of butter? With 8 oz (one cup.) butter I had to double the flour amount then it worked.

      Wow! It always confounds me how different dairy free products can be so different from one another. I can tell you that 8oz was in fact what I used, however the specific product I used was Earth Balance Dairy Free & Soy Free Spread (www.earthbalancenatural.com/spreads/soy-free-buttery-spread). I know that there are some vegan butters out there which are 'whipped' or inherently lighter, meaning that using 8 ounces of such a product would indeed yield a much more liquid result. Have to say though that I do admire your tenacity man, good job adjusting on the fly to make the recipe work!

      Susie, I just googled alpha-gal right now as this is the first I've heard of it and I'm so thankful for the opportunity to learn what it is about. Learning to cook all over again is SO frustrating and I totally get how unnerving this must be for you. Stories like yours are PRECISELY why I have come back to this channel and community, we don't choose these restrictive diets, they are thrust upon us unexpectedly, but by working together and talking to one another we can find ways to eat delicious food again.     I'm so glad you're back. I've recently tried the Katz brand donuts and it was great but I'm not supposed to have too much sugar. But I once in awhile indulgence. 😁. I usually make alot of my own rice flours and make up a mix with a KitchenAid. I'm still figuring it out.

    I cannot use corn flour because its enriched and im allergic to lab created folic acid... can i substitute with quinoa flour or potato flour? ... Last night I used 2 cups of potato flour and added onion powder, basil and thyme and the result was gnocchi! Delicious!

    Fellow Canadian been following you a long time. Aldi is a chain food store in the US not a brand of mix. They carry all kinds of gluten-free mixes. One brand is liveGfree
